WHAT’S UP AT PUBLIC HEARING NEXT WEEK

The first scheduled land development public hearing of the year was scheduled for January 29, but cancelled due to shots being fired in City Hall on January 23. Agenda items from January 29 have been moved to subsequent meetings: the February 20 public hearing has a total of fourteen rezoning applications (twenty-six agenda items), including ten infill applications.

WHAT SITUATE’S TAKING TO COUNCIL

Situate has two applications at Council next week. The first is in McKernan, which seeks to change the Small Scale Residential (RS) zone to the new low rise RMh16 zone. The second is in Queen Mary Park, which is an application testing out the new eight storey variant of the RM zone: RMh28.

These applications, while eliciting varied public responses, are supported by Administration for their potential to enhance urban living and community amenities.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

Among the other infill applications, there’s a new direct control zone designed to accommodate the George Spady detox centre in Glenwood, changes to the West Block direct control zone in Glenora and the Holyrood redevelopment site in Holyrood, commercial rezonings in Rideau Park and Glengarry, and a mixed use rezoning in Alberta Avenue.

🏢 There’s also two large scale applications in Oliver (soon to be renamed Wîhkwêntôwin) to change the land use designation to the new RLh65 zone, one on 123 Street and 103 Avenue, and the other on 116 Street just south of 104 Avenue.
